Soundarya Rajinikanth’s marriage with Ashwin Ramkumar will take place at Rani Muthaiah Hall in Chennai on September 2 and 3. And daddy Rajinikanth is busy preparing for his daughter’s marriage.

Rajinikanth is gearing up to ensure that his daughter’s wedding, turns out to be a grand affair.

INVITEES: WHO WILL RECEIVE RAJINI’S INVITATION

There are reports that Rajinikanth has invited the popular Hollywood star Richard Gere for his youngest daughter Soundarya’s wedding. Rajinikanth and wife Latha have already invited the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Deputy CM MK Stalin, the AIADMK supremo and former CM Jayalalitha and other important political dignitaries. The couple has also invited Rajinikanth’s closest buddy in tinseltown Kamal Hassan and Gauthami, Film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi and Mammooty. Apart from these, several other politicians and celebrities are expected to grace the marriage which is scheduled to be held at the Raja Muthiah Hall in Chennai on September 3rd.

WEDDING COSTUME:

The grapevine has it that Soundarya will be wearing a specially designed Kanjeevaram sari, designed by a leading silk sari shop. Manish Malhotra, the top Mumbai designer will be in charge of her reception sari as she wants to get a mix of traditional and contemporary look on that big day.

Little Nevaan Niggam’s turning out to be a regular chip off the old block. At three-years-old, Bollywood rocker Sonu Niggam’s son has already cut his first song. And, that too, with the Voice of India — Lata Mangeshkar.

The story goes that Lata approached Sonu and asked him if Nevaan would conclude a song on her new album by performing a sargam. This, to those who are well-versed with Hindustani classical music will know, is far more difficult than just singing or reciting words.

But Sonu, who himself has contributed and sung with Lata on the new album, immediately agreed. And the singer is now brimming with pride because the songstress said on a networking site that her two favourite singers are Sonu and Nevaan.

Sonu told BT, “I believe that Nevaan is truly blessed. To be asked by Lataji to sing with her at this young age is in itself a great honour. Her compliment to N eva a n even tops all the ones that I’ve got through my entire career.” Nevaan isn’t formally being trained as a singer yet. “But he’s an intelligent child and grasped every sur very quickly. He has a ve r y g o o d sense of music,” said the proud father, “When we taught him the sargam, the incentive we gave him was the opportunity to sing with the mike. Nevaan was eager enough.”

Shatrughan Sinha is quite the doting dad. Sinha’s daughter, Sonakshi, makes her debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg. Sinha did not interfere with Sonakshi’s work while the film was being shot. Now that post-production work on the film has begun, he has decided to work on the making of Dabangg by playing the role of a sutradhar (a narrator) and interviewing all the stars of the film.

Sinha was quite sure his daughter needed no assistance while shooting the film. He says, “I did not need to involve myself. My daughter was very confident of herself. But now that post-production work on the film has started, I am interviewing each star with a number of interesting questions.”

Shotgun is ecstatic that his daughter bagged such a coveted role at the very beginning of her career. He says, “It couldn’t get better especially in terms of Sonakshi’s position as the main heroine opposite such a huge star.”

Seems we have a new Salman fan in Sinha. But it turns out Shotgun prefers Salman with a moustache. According to him, Sallu looks tougher and younger with one. We’ll reserve comment.

Salman Khan gave her an opportunity to act as his leading lady in his home production, Dabangg. Sonakshi Sinha decided to say 'thank-you' for this once-in-a-lifetime chance by donating the first cheque she received for the film to the actor's Being Human foundation.

Make a difference

The newbie confirms, "Yes I have donated my signing amount to Being Human. I believe in the art of giving. My parents have always encouraged me to do charity. By God's grace, I am in a position where I can do something benevolent for someone else."

Being Human was her first choice for charity. "There are some institutions you can't trust. You don't know if your money will actually reach those in need of it. With Being Human I had no such worry. I knew my donation would make a difference in the lives of the needy. Salman is totally hands on with the foundation and keeps asking all of us for ideas and initiatives."

She has no regrets about not splurging her first-ever income. "There's ample time to do all that. The first paycheque is always special and I am glad it will be used for the right cause."
