Saif Ali Khan: My Son Can Play My Father and Not Me

Refuting rumours of a biopic being wrote or made on his late father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and he playing his character on screen, Saif says if ever a biopic is made, his son Ibrahim can play his father.

Films made on eminent sports personalities like, Mary Kom, MS Dhoni and Mohommad Azharuddin, are catching trend these days. These films not only give the world a glimpse of their work and career, but are also a celebration of their life. Thinking on those terms, a name that instantly pops in our head is of none other than late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

Saif Ali Khan himself had once expressed his desire of making a biopic on his late father but he says it would be very difficult to make a film on him or even to write a biopic on him. “Writing a biography is one thing and making a movie on it is a different thing. There is a lot of material out there. Even after he died, a lot of articles were written on him. But that’s not all. There are lot of things that people don’t know about,” Saif said.
If he will attempt to write his father’s biography? “I don’t have enough facts to write his biography. Actually, somebody was writing a book on him but it didn’t work out so well. My mother wasn’t very happy with it,” Saif added.

Given the fact that the life and career of Mr Pataudi would make a magnificent story, would they ever allow somebody to make a film on him? Said said, “I don’t think we will even give the rights to make a movie on my father’s life. I don’t even know if it can be a Hindi film because he was an international personality. So you can’t just make a Bollywood film with songs and dance in it.”
When asked if ever somebody writes a biopic of his father and a film is made on his life, would he like play his father, to which Saif added, “No, I don’t think I can play my father. There are a lot of things that I don’t know about him. Maybe my son can do a biography on my father. You never know!”
